Business Analyst IVs (BA’s) represent the business community and IT in prioritizing, analyzing and documenting business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement/enhancements and negotiating agreements and commitments between business partners (internal and external) and IT from requirements gathering to final implementation and maintenance. BA’s work directly with clients/leadership at various levels within the company and with outside parties to research and identify operational business requirements with sufficient detail and clarity to allow IT staff to collaboratively develop the solution.

  • Adopts successfully Agile Methodology in ways of working

  • Helps drive change from a waterfall development approach to an agile one.

  • Act as a Business/SME liaison back to the business leadership or IT Staff to influence, manage change, and educate for priority setting to ensure business commitments and objectives are met.

  • Participate in cross-functional work sessions with both the business and IT customers to capture stakeholder needs and required system requirements/features.

  • Participate in development, documentation and analysis of detailed functional requirements via system Use Cases and Use Case Realizations.

  • Participate in the development of system solution design for existing and new capabilities using a thorough understanding of business process and requirements as well as system capabilities and architecture.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to other BAs at a program or project level

  • Participate in multi-departmental, small, medium, large and complex projects and change initiatives.

  • Initiate problem analysis, explore solutions, prepare and present information.

  • Participate in client meetings and engages clients when appropriate.

  • Provide customer support and post implementation monitoring during initial rollout.

  • Conduct and assist Quality Assurance with development of testing criteria.

  • Provide assistance and mentoring to Business Analyst I, II & III positions

Essential Functions of this Position:

  1. Interview business sponsors and SMES to gather requirements and gain consensus and approval for specifications and business process changes as part of assigned project work.

  2. Define high-level epics and stories to create a well-organized, value-driven framework to provide the required business value in the Product Backlog.

  3. Keep requirements up to date on JIRA securing the backlog is maintained prioritized with a healthy buffer of requirement generation.

  4. Identify related user stories and epics, grouping them into themes as necessary, documenting the interrelationship and associated business process flows. The interrelationship of user stories and epics should be well-understood

  5. Integrate needs of related projects as well as the needs of a number of different stakeholders to produce an overall solution. Participate in the development and provide expert guidance of the business analysis methodology and toolkit.

  6. Expertly drive a large JAD/JAR requirement gathering sessions with business and IT representatives.

  7. Participate in client meetings and engages with clients when appropriate including senior members of leadership team.

  8. Develop proficient High Level (HL) Business Requirements, functional requirements, test plans, and UAT scripts.

  9. Manage the scope throughout the interaction with the business team, while continuously managing requirements against the business vision, mission and project scope. Must demonstrate the ability to apply and enforce project management methods and standards to the project.

  10. Articulate the overarching business value of the project to other team members.

  11. Communicate with confidence and facts (supported by analysis and data) the impacts of scope changes to the delivery of projects.

  12. Demonstrate expert competency in the requirements management processes and quality assurance testing process.

  13. Create effective presentations using images and diagrams to convey complex concepts.

  14. Willingness to assess and provide feedback on work assignments, offer guidance and mentoring for junior and/or other support analyst as well as peers.

  15. Prioritize multiple tasks delegate and manage time effectively and efficiently.

  16. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members, internal partners, stakeholders, customers and others.

  17. Obtain cooperation from others, seek and encourage win-win alternatives and effective at conflict resolution.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Art Degree - IT or Bachelor of Science Degree

Experience Requirement:

  • Ten years of experience as a business analyst designing technical business processes with a strong understanding of application programming, database and system design.

  • 5+ years’ experience as a lead or business analyst manager

  • Experience with Project Management Methodology (PMM) including the development of project documentation.

  • Experience developing SDLC methodology for an organization.

  • Experience to lead JAD/JAR sessions including the development of functional and technical requirements, development and translation to technical teams, customers and clients.

  • Certificate from a Business Analysis accreditation institution preferred, but not required.

  • Extensive experience with a variety of analytical tools, methods and techniques.

  • Experience with analytical tools and flowcharting tools such as Visio.

  • Experience at working both independently and in a team environment

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the PMO Office, BA Practices

  • Executive presentation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to shift priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving methods and techniques.

  • Comprehensive understanding of platforms such as Windows and UNIX.

  • Comprehensive Testing knowledge across various testing cycles (i.e., BIN, Integration, System and UAT) Excellent communication and coordination skills.

  • Effective conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of current Internet, Intranet, Extranet, client server architectures including SharePoint
