Overview

The Senior Security Engineer role is to plan, design, and implement the organization’s security infrastructure according to best practices, while ensuring high levels of data quality and availability. This individual will develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures to ensure a secure environment consistent with ISO 27002, SOX, and other regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Plan security systems by evaluating network and security technologies; developing requirements for LANs, wide area networks WANs, virtual private networks VPNs, routers, firewalls, and related security and network devices; adhering to industry standards.

  • Determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; studying architecture/platform; identifying integration issues.

  • Upgrade security systems by monitoring security environment; identifying security gaps; evaluating and implementing enhancements

  • Ensures that projects, programs, and other activities in IT are implemented with proper consideration given to security concerns

  • Speaks at team or department meetings to promote awareness of security

  • Mentors IT and business contacts on security concerns

  • Participates in local and national security groups

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 Years of experience in Information Security

  • Experience administering data antivirus solutions; Symantec, McAfee, CA.

  • Experience administering Intrusion Detection and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS/IPS.

  • Experience administering Firewalls; Cisco ASA's

  • Experience with Network traffic analysis tools; Wireshack, ArcSight etc.

  • Sound Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy Objects

  • Solid understanding/troubleshooting of TCP/IP

  • Proven analytical, strategic vision drawing on strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language appropriate to both executive and managerial audiences.

  • Highly self-motivated and directed.

  • Keen attention to detail.

  • Skilled in working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
